Scalloped concrete partitions anchor California home by Laney LA

Undulated concrete partitions type the decrease portion of this Californian home by structure studio Laney LA, whereas its prime half is wrapped in glass and cedar.

The aptly named Scalloped Concrete Home sits on a hill within the Manhattan Seashore neighbourhood, simply south of LAX airport, which affords the property sea views.

Its decrease storey is principally constructed from unusually shaped concrete. It contains a sample of inverted curved ridges often called scalloping.

The fabric is uncovered each on the outside and continues throughout some inside partitions, and “reveals its type most strikingly at every nook”, in accordance with Laney LA.

“Like cliffs carved from water, the scalloped partitions are even engrained with the faint grain of the formwork that formed them,” stated the studio. “Every bit of formwork was customized milled to perform the undulating type.”
